LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), or Red Light Phototherapy or Photobiomodulation, is a form of electrotherapy that uses red light at wavelengths 980/810nm to transfer light energy which is absorbed by cells in the body. The absorbed light gives the cells more energy to perform their normal function at an improved rate, therefore resulting in improved bone and soft tissue healing (tendon, ligaments, muscles, skin), and reducing the formation of scar tissue, as well as providing pain relief.
We use Companion Class IV CTX laser treatment with many of our cases. Research has demonstrated that for best results it is advisable for the first 6 LASER sessions to be over 3 weeks in order to build up an accumulative effect and kick start improved rates of healing and pain relief. Some animals require more/less than 6 sessions to start noticing a difference.
Once your animal starts seeing the benefits of LASER treatment, the frequency of sessions can be adjusted accordingly to find a 'maintenance' level of treatment that complements other hydrotherapy/physiotherapy treatment.
Please note: we are happy to treat any animals from rabbits and cats to horses! Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

On your initial appointment we will discuss your dog's health, exercise and general daily routine. Your dog's gait and a hands on examination will be carried out and a recording on our Stance Analyser will be taken if approprate.
Once this assessment has taken place and the target areas have been pinpointed we will settle your dog in a comfortable position for treatment on our comfy treatment beds. Depending on the length of treatment the patient is able to get up and walk around at times if they feel the need to. Once they have learned that all they have to do is lie back and enjoy it they tend to relax and go to sleep!
The laser treatment works on a cumulative effect and so it is advised that 6 treatments over 3 weeks are delivered to achieve the best results. Once these are complete your dog will be re-assessed and recommendations for any further treatments will be discussed.
The initial session will take approximately 60 - 90 minutes and cost £55
Individual treatments are £36 or buy a course of 6 for £180
